Photo 3
Week 1 - Jan 25 & 26
Thursday:
Hello, welcome back.
Things new this semester? Lightroom, 2 days to shoot in class for some assignments, some assignments you need to shoot out of class (no shooting during class days). More studio assignments, more commercial based.
The Art Institute will be here next Friday, Feb 2.
You will be taking pictures with your own camera or phone, the class digital SLR's, and shooting and editing a video.
You will need to work approximately one to two hours each week outside of class taking pictures for some of the the assignments.
You will need to work approximately one to two hours each week outside of class taking pictures for some of the the assignments.
It's there twice for a reason.
In class photo days will be Monday and Tuesday for the assignments that are in-school assignments.
You can't go out if it's raining and you can't go in the building, except to go from the close Commons door to the door by the Hawk Shop. There won't be makeup rain days.
Download the map HERE. I might be making changes to the map as we go along.
Shoot out of school. The weekends would be the best time to take pictures. If you aren't willing to take pictures outside of class time you shouldn't be in this class. Shooting off of school grounds will be a requirement for a lot of the assignments.

Online Website - Almost everything you do in class will be put on your Weebly website for critique and grading. We will go over how to do this in class. If you don't want your site to be able to be found on the internet I will show you how to do that.
Be sure to write down your user name and password somewhere. If you forget them you will need to rebuild the site - not fun.

Website Requirements - I want your navigation set up exactly this way: Assignments, POW's, Calendar and Portfolio. We will go over how to do this in class. Your site address should be: firstnameLastnamephoto3.weebly.com. Example: bobpotaskyphoto3.weeble.com. If that name is taken see me for help. If you don't want your website to be searchable I'll show you how to set it up that way. No illegal images on your website. You can't use pictures from the internet (except research ideas). They do not belong to you. This is a professional website, not a personal website. It is a place for me to evaluate what you are learning and potential employers or colleges to see what you are capable of.

You have all arrived at this class by different paths. You aren't all starting with the same abilities and skills. The first thing we need to do is assess where you are and what you need to do before you begin the Photo 2, or 3 projects.

Photos Of the Week (POW's) - In photo 3 I want you to do this every week. The difference between Photo 1 and Photo 2/3 is I want you to find your own photograph each week. Title it the subject of the picture. Be sure it is something interesting to you. Same directions as Photo 1. Include a thumbnail image with lightbox turned on. I'm not going to copy and past this to each week.
Write a 25 word or more reflection that includes what you do and don't like about the image. Use at least 3 of the terms from the chart below. Highlight those terms with a different color. Include a 2 inch wide copy of the discussion photo in the Weebly POW page. Be sure you have turned on Lightbox.
Due by the end of next week. Example here.
Reflection Cheat Sheet - Include at least one term from three different columns, a description of how it is used, and if you can figure it out - why it was used.
Another way to think about it:
In your reflection include what (photo/art term), how (how it was used) and why (why did the artist use it - if you can figure that out) from at least three columns.
